How to choose a Cairo day tour

Most visitors have one or two days in Cairo. These are the questions that decide which tour fits:

• First visit, half a day: the Giza Pyramids half day tour covers the three pyramids, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple in about four hours. The group version starts from US$45 per person.
• First visit, full day: combine the pyramids with a museum. The Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum tour is the most complete option, because the two sites are only a few minutes apart.
• The story of the pyramids: Giza, Memphis and Saqqara in one day, from the Step Pyramid to the Great Pyramid.
• Beyond the pyramids: Islamic and Coptic Cairo, the royal mummies, the Citadel and Khan el-Khalili, or an evening Sound and Light show.
• Further afield: same-day trips to Alexandria, Fayoum, the White Desert, or Luxor by plane.

What the price includes

Every price on this page is per person in US dollars. Many tours let you choose the level of service when you book:

• Private car with driver only.
• Private car and guide, with entry tickets paid by you at the sites.
• Private car, guide and entry tickets.
• Private car, guide, entry tickets and lunch.

Private full-day tours with car and guide start from US$65 per person. The exact inclusions of each option are listed on every tour page. Tickets to go inside the pyramids, tips and optional extras such as a camel ride are not included unless the tour says so.

Pickup and timing

Tours start with pickup at your hotel in Cairo or Giza in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Half-day tours last three to five hours and full days around seven to eight hours. Cairo day tours: frequently asked questions

How much does a day tour in Cairo cost?

A group half day at the Giza Pyramids starts from US$45 per person and private full-day tours with car and guide from US$65 per person. Day trips to other cities cost more because of the distance, for example from US$95 for Alexandria and from US$515 for Luxor by plane.

Can I see the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum in one day?

Yes. The museum is next to the Giza Plateau, so both fit comfortably into one full day.

Are the tours private or in a group?

Most of our Cairo day tours are private, just for your party. A few, such as the Giza Pyramids half day, also have a lower-priced group option.

Do you pick up from hotels in Giza?

Yes. Pickup is included from hotels in Cairo and Giza.
