The Western Desert by 4×4
About four and a half hours south-west of Cairo lies Bahariya Oasis, the gateway to one of the most extraordinary landscapes in Egypt. From there our 4×4 vehicles cross the Black Desert, covered in volcanic hills, stop at Crystal Mountain and reach the White Desert National Park, where wind has carved the chalk into mushrooms, cones and animal shapes.
The night is spent in a Bedouin camp with dinner cooked over the fire. With no light pollution, the Milky Way is visible from horizon to horizon. Nights are cold from November to February, so we provide blankets and recommend a warm layer.
