The treasure of the boy king
The golden mask, the thrones, the chariots and the nested coffins: more than 5,000 objects from tomb KV62, found by Howard Carter in 1922.
Grand Egyptian Museum
Six storeys of kings, gods and sarcophagi climbing towards a window that frames the pyramids of Giza.
Tahrir Square · Since 1902
The historic home of Egyptology in downtown Cairo, where the Narmer Palette and the gold of Tanis still fill the galleries.
Fustat · Old Cairo
At the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Ramses II, Seti I and Hatshepsut rest in a hall that recreates the half-light of a royal tomb.
Luxor · East Bank

Our promise
Five thousand years of history, one river, and a team that has spent a lifetime learning how to share it. We plan every journey as if our own family were travelling — honest prices, unhurried visits and guides who know the stories behind every stone.
The Ledo Tours family · Giza, Egypt
Featured · Grand Egyptian Museum
Under the 83-tonne colossus of Ramesses II, up the Grand Staircase and into the galleries of Tutankhamun: the Grand Egyptian Museum is the reason many travellers come to Egypt today. We include it on our Cairo days with timed tickets and an Egyptologist who knows every gallery.
Descend into tomb KV62
Scroll slowly. Move the torch with your cursor. At the end of the corridor, the most famous face of the ancient world is waiting.
Valley of the Kings · 1922
On 4 November 1922 Howard Carter’s team uncovered the first step cut into the valley floor. Three weeks later he looked into the antechamber and saw “wonderful things”.
The burial chamber
The only decorated room of KV62 shows the funeral procession, the Opening of the Mouth ceremony and the young king welcomed by the gods.
Four shrines, three coffins
Inside a quartzite sarcophagus lay three nested coffins. The innermost is made of solid gold and weighs about 110 kilograms.
The mask
Gold inlaid with lapis lazuli, quartz and obsidian — the face that became the symbol of ancient Egypt. Today the complete treasure is displayed at the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Egypt’s great museums
Seven museums that hold the treasures of the tombs and temples you will visit. Our guides plan the order so each one adds to the story.

The journey along the Nile
From the pyramids of Giza to the colossi of Abu Simbel, every Ledo itinerary follows the river that built a civilisation.
Chapter 1 — Where history begins
The pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the Sphinx and the new Grand Egyptian Museum with Tutankhamun’s complete treasure. Then the minarets of Islamic Cairo and the lanes of Khan el-Khalili.
Chapter 2 — The world’s greatest open-air museum
Ancient Thebes: the forest of columns at Karnak, Luxor Temple lit up at dusk and, on the West Bank, the painted tombs of the Valley of the Kings and the terraces of Hatshepsut.
Chapter 3 — The Nile at its most beautiful
Pink granite, felucca sails and brightly painted Nubian villages. The Temple of Isis at Philae, the High Dam, and the river temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo along the way.
Chapter 4 — The temple that was moved
Four twenty-metre colossi of Ramses II carved into the mountain — and moved block by block in the 1960s to save them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
Chapter 5 — A night under a thousand stars
By 4x4 from Bahariya Oasis: the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain and the chalk sculptures of the White Desert, finished with a Bedouin dinner and a camp under Egypt’s clearest sky.
Chapter 6 — Coral reefs after the temples
All-inclusive days in Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh: turquoise water, some of the world’s finest coral reefs and the perfect rest after a week of temples.
Chapter 7 — The Egypt of Alexander the Great
Cleopatra’s Mediterranean city and its modern Library, then remote Siwa Oasis — where Alexander consulted the Oracle of Amun among salt lakes and mud-brick fortresses.
Nile cruises · Luxor to Aswan
Three to seven nights between Luxor and Aswan, waking up to palm groves, mud-brick villages and temples that rise straight from the riverbank.

We are based in Giza and contract hotels, ships and drivers directly, so the price you see is the price you pay.
Change the dates, upgrade the ship, add a night in the desert. Every programme can be adapted.
One phone number, answered day and night by someone who is in Egypt with you.
Experiences
Float above the Valley of the Kings as the sun comes up.

Sail between granite islands and Nubian villages.

A traditional sailing boat with a handful of cabins.

Bedouin dinner, a campfire and the Milky Way overhead.

Corals and tropical fish a few metres from the shore.

Lonely Nubian temples reachable only by boat.

Travel guide
October to April brings pleasant weather across the country, with daytime highs of 20–28°C in Luxor and Aswan. Summer in Upper Egypt easily passes 40°C, but prices drop and the temples are quieter — in those months we start visits early in the morning.
Yes, on every programme that lists it in the itinerary, with timed tickets and an Egyptologist guide. If your chosen journey does not include it, we can add a museum visit to any day in Cairo.
Plan at least three to four hours for the Grand Hall, the Grand Staircase and the Tutankhamun galleries. If you want to see the main chronological galleries as well, give it a full day.
Most European, American and Latin American nationalities can buy a visa on arrival at the airport or apply for an e-visa online before travelling. Your passport must be valid for at least six months. Each programme states whether the visa is included.
The tourist areas of Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, the Red Sea and the oases welcome millions of visitors every year. Our team is with you throughout: a guide for every visit, private transfers and a 24-hour assistance number answered in Egypt.
Eight days cover the essentials: Cairo, the pyramids and a three- or four-night cruise between Luxor and Aswan. With 11–12 days you can add the Red Sea, the White Desert or a Lake Nasser cruise.
Our prices include international and domestic flights, hotels, the Nile cruise on full board, transfers, entrance fees for the visits in the programme and an Egyptologist guide. Drinks, tips and optional excursions are not included.
Tell us how many days you have and what you dream of seeing. An Egyptologist from our team will design the route and send you a clear quote within 24 hours.
