Practical notes for a relaxed trip
- Walking: most sites involve walking on sand or uneven stone. The passages inside the pyramids are narrow and steep, and some tombs in the Valley of the Kings have long stairways; all of these are optional.
- Heat: visits are planned for the morning, and October to April is the most comfortable season.
- Early starts: the road to Abu Simbel leaves Aswan around 04:00; the flight is an alternative if you prefer to avoid it.
