Tannoura Show in Cairo at Wekalet El Ghoury

What you will see

The tannoura is a whirling dance rooted in Sufi tradition. Dancers spin for long stretches in wide, brightly coloured skirts while musicians play traditional Egyptian instruments such as drums, flutes and string instruments. The setting adds to the experience: Wekalet El Ghoury is a historic merchants’ inn from the Mamluk period, with a stone courtyard and arches that frame the stage. Performances take place on Saturday and Wednesday evenings, and the whole outing lasts about 4 hours including transfers. Entry fees, a private guide, water and transfers in an air-conditioned vehicle are included.
