This Kalabsha temple tour in Aswan combines one of the lesser-visited temples of Nubia with the Nubian Museum, which tells the story of the people of southern Egypt. It is a private tour of about nine hours that starts at 8:00 am, with a guide, entry fees and air-conditioned transfers included.

What you will see

Kalabsha Temple was built in the Roman period and dedicated to Mandulis, a Nubian sun god. Like Abu Simbel and Philae, it was dismantled and moved to a new site near the High Dam to save it from the waters of Lake Nasser. Today it stands on a quiet headland, far from the crowds of the main sites, and your guide explains its halls and reliefs.

The Nubian Museum displays objects from prehistory to the Islamic era, many recovered during the salvage campaign that rescued the Nubian monuments. Models, statues and everyday items show how Nubian life developed along the Nile and what was lost when the lake was created.

Good to know

  • The tour is private and runs daily.
  • A multilingual guide accompanies you, so ask for your preferred language when booking.
  • Bottled water, service charges and taxes are included.
  • The Kalabsha site is in the open, so bring sun protection.

It is a good choice if you have already seen Philae and want a quieter, more complete picture of Nubian history in Aswan.
