Egypt with the Three Wise Men: Family Trip
From€2,000

A full week on the Nile, four all-inclusive nights on the Red Sea and Cairo. Two weeks at an easy pace, made for honeymoons and slow travellers.
Overview
Most Nile cruises last three or four nights and feel like a race. This one lasts seven. The ship sails from Luxor to Aswan and back again, so you see every temple without hurrying and still have long afternoons on deck with nothing to do but watch the river.
The guided visits are concentrated in the first half of the cruise: Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae. The return journey is slower, with a free day in Aswan to sail a felucca, wander the spice market or add the excursion to Abu Simbel.
Then come four all-inclusive nights in Hurghada, followed by a final night in Cairo. With the Pyramids at the start, it is a complete, relaxed two weeks and a popular choice for honeymooners.
Highlights
Day by day
Welcome to Cairo. Our team meets you inside the terminal, assists with the visa and baggage, and takes you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours: rest after the flight or take a first walk through a city of more than twenty million people.
The day you have been waiting for. Your guide takes you to the plateau of Giza to see the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure up close, then to the panoramic viewpoint where all three line up against the desert. Finish at the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple of Khafre. Afternoon free.
Optional: entry inside a pyramid (extra ticket) or an afternoon at Saqqara and Memphis.
Flight from Cairo to Luxor and embarkation. In the afternoon, visit the temples of Karnak and Luxor. Dinner and overnight on board.
Crossing to the West Bank, the city of the dead. You visit three tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Back on board, the ship passes through the Esna lock and sails on to Edfu.
Optional: sunrise balloon flight over the Theban necropolis.
A horse-drawn carriage takes you to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the most complete temple in Egypt, with its roof and pylon still standing. Lunch while sailing past palm groves and mud-brick villages, then a sunset visit to Kom Ombo, the double temple of Sobek and Haroeris, and its small museum of mummified crocodiles. The ship continues to Aswan.
Morning visit to the High Dam, which created Lake Nasser, and the Unfinished Obelisk still lying in its granite quarry. A motorboat then takes you to the island temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis and moved stone by stone to save it from the rising waters. The afternoon is free; we recommend a felucca sail around Elephantine Island and the Aga Khan Mausoleum.
A free day in Aswan, the most relaxed town on the Nile. Walk through the spice market, visit the Botanical Garden on Kitchener Island or the Nubian Museum, and watch the sunset from a felucca.
Optional: excursion to Abu Simbel.
The ship turns north and follows the current. A quiet morning on deck, then a stop at Kom Ombo if you want to see the temple again at night, when it is lit up above the river.
Sail past Edfu and through the Esna lock, where traders row up to the ship selling scarves. A farewell dinner on board as you return to Luxor.
After breakfast in Luxor, a road transfer takes you across the Eastern Desert to Hurghada. Check-in at your all-inclusive resort and first swim in the Red Sea.
A day with nothing to do but enjoy the resort, the beach and the water. The reefs off Hurghada are among the most accessible in the world; snorkelling trips to the Giftun Islands or a glass-bottom boat are easy to arrange locally.

All the temple visits happen while sailing south. The return to Luxor is a relaxed sailing with free time, so a guide is not needed.
