Karnak and Luxor Temple Tour on Luxor’s East Bank

This private Karnak and Luxor Temple tour covers the two great temples on the East Bank of Luxor in about 4 hours. You are picked up at your hotel, driven between both sites in a private car and returned to your hotel afterwards.

It is a compact way to see the heart of ancient Thebes if you have only half a day, and it is available with a guide in English, Spanish or German.

What you will see

• Karnak Temple – a huge religious complex dedicated mainly to Amun, enlarged by pharaohs over many centuries. Highlights include the Great Hypostyle Hall, the obelisks and the sacred lake.
• Luxor Temple – built mainly by Amenhotep III and Ramesses II, with a colossal entrance pylon, a remaining obelisk and seated statues of Ramesses II.

The two temples were once linked by the Avenue of Sphinxes, which you can see near the entrance of Luxor Temple.

Good to know

There are four options: driver only, car and guide, car with guide and entry tickets, or the full option with lunch. Bottled water, service charges and taxes are part of every option.

Both temples are open-air, so a hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes are a good idea. Luxor Temple is lit up after dark, which makes it a popular spot for photos if you plan a later visit.
