Luxor Day Trip from Aswan: Valley of the Kings & Karnak
FromUS$290

Watch the temples of Abu Simbel come alive with light, music and narration in the evening, with transfers from your hotel in Abu Simbel.
Overview
The Abu Simbel sound and light show is an evening performance at the temples of Abu Simbel, where light, music and narration tell the story of the site against the facades of Ramses II’s monuments. This private outing of about two hours includes the show ticket and transfers from your hotel in Abu Simbel town.
Abu Simbel’s two rock-cut temples were built by Ramses II in the 13th century BC: the Great Temple, with its four colossal seated statues of the king, and the smaller temple dedicated to Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor. In the 1960s both temples were cut into blocks and moved to higher ground to save them from the waters of Lake Nasser, a rescue led by UNESCO.
After dark, the facades become a giant screen. Projections and colours play over the statues while the narration recalls Ramses II, Nefertari and the relocation of the temples. Narration is available in several languages, so you can follow the story in your own.
If you plan to spend the night beside Lake Nasser, the Abu Simbel sound and light show is a memorable way to see the temples in a different light.
